Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Susan Edquist. I am an artist who paints in a realistic style using oils and watercolors. My subject matters vary widely from landscapes, animals, birds, gardens and flowers, to some fun, whimsical images.

Along with my husband and our two often-sleepy cats, I live, paint, and garden at Sleepy Cat Cottage in Pinehurst, North Carolina. In addition, I give private lessons and teach painting for our Village’s Recreation Department.

If you are familiar with the Village of Pinehurst, you know it’s considered by many to be one of the premier golf destinations in the US, but there is far more to this small community than golf—art being one of them! Pinehurst and the surrounding towns in the Carolina Sandhills are home to a thriving arts community.

My website contains a Paintings gallery. Many of these images are now in collections in the US and Europe. Additional paintings are available. Just Contact me for further availability and information on purchases.

There is a section on Commissions. Personalized paintings are treasured for years and generations. I have painted numerous works for clients who have come to me with an idea of a painting for themselves or as a gift, or with photographs of a special location or beloved pet. I particularly enjoy painting animal portraits. My website has several pet portraits. You can see samples of our own cats’ portraits. Above you see the painting of our cat, Rufus, napping in the front garden. Frankie also has his own portrait. The portrait of Millie, who passed away in February 2010, keeps her memory close to us.
